Strategic Communications Counsel for Michigan's Largest Hispanic Business Event
Nov 04, 2007
FARMINGTON HILLS, MICH - Michigan's largest Hispanic business event, an area fundraiser to support drug abuse prevention, and an organization seeking to keep an exploding cat population at bay are a few of the organizations that have benefited in recent weeks from the strategic communications and public relations efforts of Tanner Friedman.
The firm's collaboration with the Hispanic Business Alliance (HBA) allowed the organization to grow attendance for Michigan's premier Hispanic business event, the Hispanic Business Expo, to approximately 3,000 participants, up from 2,000 in 2006. Proactive outreach efforts included media partnership development, publicizing compelling, nationally recognized speakers and earning pre- and post-event coverage from news sources via numerous media platforms across multiple communities.
Coverage of the Expo reached more than 3.4 million readers and viewers. Tanner Friedman also lent a hand to the Troy Community Coalition for the Prevention of Drug and Alcohol Abuse in support of its largest annual fundraiser, a dinner and auction event that featured comedian John Heffron, winner of the second season of NBC's "Last Comic Standing."
The campaign incorporated aggressive outreach to print, broadcast and online media outlets, resulting in widespread coverage of the event, including an appearance by Heffron on the market's most popular FM morning radio show. Nearly 400 people attended the event at the San Marino Club in Troy, an increase of more than 35 percent over the previous year, with revenue, in turn, also up significantly.
The Oakland Pet Adoption Center, located in Auburn Hills, faced a unique challenge this summer, as it struggled with a sharp increase in the area's cat population. This, in turn, required the assistance of area residents to help locate suitable homes for the animals. Tanner Friedman spread word of the "cat crisis" to broadcast and print outlets throughout metro Detroit and in doing so delivered the crisis message of the crisis to potential adopters. Since the beginning of the campaign, the Center has found homes for many hundreds of their temporary feline residents as well as spaying and neutering thousands throughout the year through the Oakland Pet Fund.
