The tributes are deservedly rolling in for longtime WXYZ-TV General Manager, Grace Gilchrist, who is calling it a career at the end of the year.
I am quoted in The Detroit News’ story on her retirement and won’t be redundant in this blog entry.
Just one prediction – you won’t see another commerical broadcast TV GM last 13 years in this market again. The business has changed and the pressure has increased (although to GMs who worked in previous eras, that must be hard to imagine).
Grace beat the odds and her consistency and leadership will be missed.
